Subsea Technology East Mediterranean Conference
Τhe conference STEM2023 (Subsea Technology East Mediterranean) will take place in Limassol, Cyprus on May 17-19.
STEM2023 is designed to emphasis on the developments related to deep water gas fiends. The intention is to continue developing this conference annually in Cyprus, perhaps even clockwise among the East Mediterranean countries, to create a dynamic to last for many years similarly to what has been achieved with ‘Subsea Tie-back Forum’, Houston, Texas, USA (25 years plus conference). However, we can only achieve the above if we ensure a great start.
The Advisory Board Chairman is Demetris Fessas from CHC and Vice-Chairman is Antonio Critsinelis from Chevron. The board members determine the conference session topics and recruit the speakers. Companies represented on the board include CHC, EGAS, Shell Egypt, Petronas, Chevron, ExxonMobil, NewMed, Energean, Saipem, TechnipFMC, Aker Solutions, OneSubsea, Emerson, Worley, KBC and more.
The mission of this new event is to promote subsea technology development, application, and best practices to facilitate the production of Eastern Mediterranean offshore natural gas reserves. The event is modeled after the long-standing US-based Subsea Tieback Forum and tailored for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMED) region.
With conference content curated by an industry Advisory Board of national and international operators and contractors that are active in the Eastern Mediterranean region, Subsea Technology Eastern Mediterranean (STEM) will bring together an international audience of senior technology and business management professionals from global offshore international operators, engineering firms, contractors, technology suppliers, service companies, shipyards, ports, and regulators for three days of information exchange and networking. The event will cover important industry topics such as:
• Long-distance tieback lessons learned
• Subsea processing
• Subsea concept selection
• Subsea boosting
• New technology
• Flow assurance
• Corrosion control
• Flowline and riser design
• FLNG design, installation, and operations
• Normally unattended facilities
• Remote operations and inspection
• AUV and ROV technology
• Subsea power and control systems
• Project execution
• Asset integrity management
• Electrification with wind and wave power
• Digitalization
• Hydrogen market potential
• Carbon capture and storage
• Joint field developments
• Cross-border cooperation
Presenters at this year’s STEM will come from the EMED, other parts of Europe, and the US. Companies represented in the conference include CHC, EGAS, Chevron, ENI, Petronas, Energean, Aker Solutions, OneSubsea, TechnipFMC, Subsea 7, and more.
The keynote presenters are:

This conference is closed to media and attendees are restricted from sharing or publishing anything that is presented or discussed in the conference sessions. This is to enable candid discussion among industry peers on the important industry issues.
Please note the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) East Mediterranean branch is organising a Pre-Conference Workshop on the 17th of May.
The instructors are industry professionals from Cyprus and UK.
